Introduction to Genre

Genre is a way of categorising films into to different groups, for example Comedy, Action, Thriller. Films that are in the same genre normally share similarities to each other, for instance action films will all consist of guns and explosions, they have the same conventions. Another example is that in horror films there are a lot of murders, knifes, demons and blood.
