During our prelim task we filmed a short sequence to help our knowledge on the correct etiquette to filming a scene. We started of by deciding who was going to act and who was going to direct a record, i was behind the camera helping setting up the scene and filming.
To begin with we set up the camera for a long shot and made shore that the actors were in focus, we allowed them to rehearse and workout how they were going to come on to stage which took about 10 minutes. Then we started rolling, we came across some problems such as having the confidence to tell the actors exactly where they needed to stand and how to say their lines. After we got past this barrier we managed to get a series of shots that consisted of:
- Mid Shot
- Over The Shoulder
- Close Up
- Long Shot
During the filming of some of these shots, for instance the over the shoulder we came across the issue of making sure when the actor enters the shot that he/she isn't in the whole frame. We fixed this issue by using tape on the floor to mark out where it would be best for the actors to stand to get the best looking shot. When we finished filming and getting all the shots we needed to we had some time left to improvise and try get some alternate shots. We got close ups of one of the actors shoes as he enters the room by placing the camera on the floor. We also got a tilt shot of Elisa sitting down in the chair from her feet the her head, we did a couple takes to have a variation of speed which is useful when it comes to editing because the more shots the easier it is to piece the scene together.
