In our camera workshop today for the first time we learned
the very basics of setting up a cameras as well as filming and correctly striking all the equipment. All of this information was very basic but is incredible helpful and is needed to be able to operate a Camera.
The first thing we did was learn how to set up a tripod which we were told is key and when it comes to filming try and use it as much as possible so the shot can stay stabilized. It was very simple and all you had to do was turn a few clips to raise it to the same level to the object you are filming. To place the camera correctly onto the tripod you need to hold down a button on the side of the tripod and simply slide the camera on making sure that you tighten it with the dial but not to tight as that could wear out the screws.
We also learned a few of the basics such as zooming, focusing, exposure and white balance. When focusing it is key that you zoom all the way onto the object and then focus to get the clearest shot possible. Another thing to make sure have done before filming is that the camera isn't tilted one way or the other, to correct this there is a air bubble on the back of the camera which you line up with a circle to make sure that the camera is at the correct angle. White balancing is also very important when it comes to filming, this is used to make sure the correct amount of light is entering the lens. The way to do this is to zoom in on something white, focus and then press the white balancing button. The letter A will flash up and then a number after on the screen and once you have seen this you know it has worked correctly.
These are the basics we learned of setting up and working a camera.
