Task 4: Digipak

When creating our digipak lots of digital technologies were used as there are lots of different elements to the digipak. We started by using a Nikon camera to get studio shots of our artist to put on the front cover of the album as well as the back, this was relatively simple as we could just transfer the photos onto my laptop where I could edit them remotely. Next was to find the image we wanted to double expose with as well as put on the inside of the digipak, we wanted something dark looking as well as a good quality photo. After doing some research on the community of Reddit i was able to find a photographer from Japan, I got in touch with him on Twitter and asked if he was ok with us using his photo and he said it was fine.

Now that all the photos where ready to start being edited with we began to tweak with them in photoshop, first we fixed the exposure and colouring on the photo then we created a separate layer and created a layer mask. This allowed us to mask the other photo on top of the artist to create a double exposure effect. After tweaking with the levels, hue and saturation as well as adding the text the final product looked liked this above.

We also used After Effects to edit the inside of the digipak, we decided to use the same photo on the front image but use a tool called pixel sorting to create the blurred digital effect. The way this works is you chose the mode which could be to blur the highlights or shadows, then choose the orientation to columns or rows and then finally set the threshold which determines how much  blurring there is.
